The CMRAO’s Licence Deadline for Managers Has Been Extended To March 30, 2018

If you haven’t heard yet, the CMRAO has just extended the deadline for condominium managers to apply for their licence to March 30, 2018. So any condominium managers that have not yet been able to submit the licence application, now is the time to do so.

As many of our readers know, the deadline for licence applications was January 29, 2018. The CMRAOs position is that any manager or company that has failed to submit their application by the January 29 deadline, and continues to provide management services, has been doing so illegally. In fact, the CMRA has identified more than 200 individuals that have not yet applied for their licence. Given this high number, the CMRAO has used its discretion to extend the deadline to avoid having managers providing services without the proper licence.

So now is the time to correct this issue for anyone who finds themselves in this situation. Its unlikely that another extension will be granted. Any applicants who miss the March 30th deadline could face significant consequences, including only being eligible for a limited licence, which means only being licenced to work under certain conditions, and having to work under the supervision a General or Transitional General licensee.
